Man Post Monday: Layering
Layering for the Spring / Summer months can be a bit trickier than in the cooler fall and winter months. Layers don't have to involve bulky coats and sweaters, and is a lot easier in warmer months than you'd think. a few layering pieces consist of lightweight button ups, vests, quality tees, lightweight/ unstructured blazer, lightweight bomber jackets, lightweight denim jacket, etc..
Notice I keep using the word lightweight.
The denim jacket you wear in spring and summer should be way lighter and thinner than the one you'd wear in the cooler months.
A few things to keep in mind are texture and color.
1. Texture
The texture of your layers can play a big part on keeping your fit looking polished and ultimately "tied together"
You want your outfit to have good contrast, and pairing different textures can give your outfit depth.
The materials you choose also play a big part on staying cool while layering.
Be conscious and do research on the materials you're wearing, just because they're thin doesn't mean they cant retain heat.
2. Color
Choosing the right colors when layering is critical.
It goes hand in hand with texture by creating depth and giving the illusion that there's more to your outfit than there really is.
The cool thing with spring and summer is there's more room for brighter colorful patterns which are a statement on their own, so you don't need much else to keep your outfit looking put together.
just be careful and don't pair too many brights together you dont want to walk around looking like a pack of highlighters.
Keep a good balance of lights, brights and darks consistent when layering your outfits and you'll be just fine.
Keep these tips in mind when getting dressed this summer and you'll stay cool, and look even cooler. ;)
